Please remember that jewelry and/or accessories such as pens or nameplates may appear to be gold, but are just gold-colored plated. Our experienced technicians or gold buyers, in our gold refining facility, using the most modern equipment, determine what items have real gold in them. Our gold buyers and technicians are well trained.
We will not buy everything. Our ethical policy strictly determines that we will not buy any stolen items or items you do not have the right to sell. We buy gold and other precious metals only.
Here is a list of some items we will not buy:
•
Artifacts
•
Costume jewelry
•
Gold-plated items
•
Non-precious metals
•
Plastic
•
Jewelry that is not gold, platinum or sterling silver.
Many items resemble gold, platinum or sterling silver, but they are not. You can determine this by looking for the hallmark, or karat stamp. By law, all jewelry items sold in most nations must have a karat stamp such as 10K, 14K, 18K, 750, 585 or any such markings. Sterling silver stamps read 925 or SS. Many times, older items may have no karat stamps because during a jewelry repair it might have been polished away. In many countries such as India, China, Mexico, and many African nations, the customer provides the jeweler with the gold and the items are made to order or to repair jewelry. It is customary in these countries to use 24 karat jewelry. These items have a very high value. Just because an item does not have a karat stamp, it does not mean it is not gold. Some items may have a karat stamp and actually contain no gold. Our experienced technicians or gold buyers will determine whether it is gold and what the value is.
Here are a few recent cases that we wish to pass on. We know that some think of us as the best place to sell gold, so our gold buyers expect this kind of thing to happen. There is a kind of gold flake that appears exactly like gold scrap or gold leaf. It has the weight of scrap gold leaf. But it isn’t. The few customers who sent in this material to our gold refining and gold recycling facility were fooled by the sellers who they purchased this material from. Be careful! Remember, we buy gold items like gold scrap, gold teeth, old gold, broken gold, and just about anything that contains gold, platinum, or silver. Let our trained technicians and gold buyers test items for you if you are not sure about an item you are going to buy.
